SERVICES

General Foot Care – £35

Toenail trimming and all of the following included if required: Toenail reduction (thickened nails or fungal nails), callus and corn removal, cracked heel repair, ingrown toenail removal and fungal skin infection (Athletes Foot) advice. Finished with soothing intense moisturising cream and anti fungal nail oil. Please remove polish prior to your appointment.

Toenail Reduction – Thickened nails can be unsightly and uncomfortable due to the pressure on the nail bed. They are often caused by damage or trauma to the nail (for example from stubbing a toe, playing sport or ill fitting shoes), or a fungal nail infection. I am able to reduce the height and length of the nail to ease the pressure and to improve the appearance.

Callus – Callus is simply hard/thickened often discoloured skin, found on the areas of the feet where most pressure is applied. This can become uncomfortable to walk on, sometimes having a burning sensation if in excess.

Corns – Corns are similar to calluses as they are caused by pressure and/or friction. They are small round patches with a painful core. The pain will not disappear until the core is removed and if left untreated will often grow in size, making them even more painful. Some people describe the discomfort of a hard corn as being similar to having a stone in their shoe or the feeling of standing on a piece of glass. Soft corns are found in between the toes and make wearing shoes very uncomfortable, as with hard corns these can be easily removed.

Cracked Heels – Cracked heels can be caused by dry skin, skin infections, pressure, ill fitting shoes and being overweight. Fissures can become very deep, uncomfortable and can bleed, leaving the foot open to infection. I remove the excess callus enabling the fissures to repair and deeply moisturise the area to promote healing. I will then advise aftercare treatment to follow on at home.

Ingrown toenails – Ingrown Toenails can be caused by incorrectly cutting your toenails, involuted nails (curved), ill fitting shoes or trauma (ie stubbing toe). The nail enters the skin and causes pain. If left untreated, this can cause an infection and swelling. I am able to remove the ingrown nail to allow the skin to heal and recover properly. Antibiotics are only able to work properly once the ingrown nail is removed.

Fungal Skin Infection – Athletes Foot comes in many different forms and contrary to common belief, it doesn’t just appear between the toes and isn’t always itchy. I am able to offer advice on how to treat this effectively at home.
